The World is Run by People with Wobbly Self-Worth
Plus, a Self-Trust Experiment that will make you smile all week long.
It takes me about five minutes with a new client to see their brilliance and to know they have something amazing to offer this world.
After all, my clients are changemakers. They are activists. They are system disruptors. They are thought leaders. They are artists. They are healers.
People with BIG optimism often have brilliant, outrageous, different, unique, wild — and refreshing — ideas but those ideas also lead to a Self-Worth Wobble.
Wobbly self-worth has a lot of voices -- voices like ...
1. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO DO THIS? 🤔
2. WHO WOULD SPEND MONEY ON THIS? 🤫
3. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING. 😩
4. NO ONE WILL WANT THIS. 😔
5. IT'S GOOD BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH. 🥺
6. YOU NEED TO LEARN MORE, GET MORE EDUCATION, TAKE ANOTHER COURSE BEFORE YOU'RE READY. 🤓
7. YOU'RE NOT READY. 🤷♀️
8. YOU'RE AN IMPOSTER.
Any of this sound familiar?
Yeah, that's a Wobbly Self-Worth issue.
And, guess what? We all have it at one time or another. Or, for some people, it’s a feeling that is felt all the time.
Even the most prominent leaders in the world have struggled — or still struggle — with wobbly self-worth.
Wobbly self-worth is not the same as NO self-worth.
We all know our value in certain arenas and feel less certain in others. You can be chugging along doing your thing and then, boom, you are knocked off your game by a comment, a look, some negative feedback.
—> The next thing you know, wobbly self-worth is on the scene.
My own mentor in the Wobbly Self-Worth Arena is Brené Brown — who is always honest and vulnerable about her own insecurities — says this: “True belonging and self-worth are not goods; we don't negotiate their value with the world. The truth about who we are lives in our hearts. Our call to courage is to protect our wild heart against constant evaluation, especially our own. No one belongs here more than you.”
Your self-worth is innate -- and it drives everything you will do in your life and work.
The number one productivity stealer I see over and over in my work as a creative strategist is this wobbly self worth. There is no bigger drain on your creativity, your productivity, your energy, your well-being, or anything else related to your creative work and business than navigating with wobbly self-worth.
If you don't believe YOU are worthy or your work is valuable that mindset will impact your bottom line and progress.
In order to bring your ideas forth and share them with the world -- especially when it comes to expecting to be paid for your expertise and ideas — you have to invest in your self-worth and confidence, especially if you are doing things differently than the rest of your industry or peers.
Low Self-Worth is an action stopper, deal breaker and creativity killer.
Let's change those voices -- together.
1. YOU ARE MORE THAN READY. 🔥
2. YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED. 🥰
3. PEOPLE WILL PAY FOR YOUR BRILLIANCE. 🦚
4. YOU DO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. 😎
5. YOUR IDEAS ARE VALUABLE AND WORTH SPREADING. 🤩
