Turn Your Sacred Flaw into Your North Star
When we are upleveling — which is messy work — it is easy to focus on what is wrong, what is weak, what needs fixed. Let's change this right now.
We all have a core wound inside of us.
And, I would argue, we all also have a core flaw inside of us as well.
A core flaw is that personality trait, that quirk or oddity that you feel called out on all the time. It tends to be that one thing people may not like about you or that one thing you have spent years wishing away.
To find your core flaw you simply have to answer this question …
people think I’m too _________.
Whatever you answer with, I call that core flaw your Sacred Flaw.
A flaw is, by definition, an imperfection or weakness and especially one that detracts from the whole or hinders effectiveness. (Merriam-Webster)
And so, let us focus on the part of that definition … “that detracts from the whole or hinders effectiveness.”
Your core flaw — and mine — will detract from our wholeness until we learn to embrace it and accept it and see it as a strength.
When we are upleveling — which is messy work — it is easy to focus on what is wrong, what is weak, what needs fixed.
In my work as a coach, we ditch the BS of brokeness and obsessions of self-help.
There is nothing to fix.
We turn what has been deemed wrong about you into what is strong about you.
We turn what needs fixed into what needs elevated and empowered.
You, dear one, contain multitudes.
Inside of you are traces of generations and lifetimes of past generations and a collective of comments and ideas that have gotten you to this moment in time.
You’ve spent your whole life picking up and learning from everyone you’ve met, everyone who’s influenced you, everyone who’s been a part of your life.
But in order to truly, truly start the Brave Yes Journey of Being Yourself and being courageous … you have to start unlearning.
Unlearn what you’ve been focused on being broken.
Unlearn what you’ve been seeing as needing changed.
Tap into your strengths and what makes you your most extraordinary self.
And, spoiler alert!!
Your sacred flaw is part of what makes you extraordinary.
Once you realize your Sacred Flaw is your North Star and greatest strength, you cannot and will not lose your power ever again.
Let me say that again … once you come to see your Sacred Flaw as your North Star and greatest strength, you cannot and will not lose your power ever again.
Brave YES Mindset™ Journaling Prompts for this week:
Make a short list of core flaws — what you feel is broken or needs fixed — about you. This should be things you’ve felt called out on most of your life. (too needy, too much, too loud, too bitchy, too kind, too caring, too flighty, too disorganized, too messy, too this or that … )
Pick one that stands out to you the most. We’ll call this your Sacred Flaw.
Be vulnerable and track the comments or experiences that led you to see this flaw as something negative or to fix about yourself.
Then, create a list of all the ways your Sacred Flaw has saved you, empowered you, given you opportunities, helped you, made you more you, etc.
Now, write a courageous affirmation to use when you start to think you need to fix your core flaw. The affirmation should remind you that your core flaw is SACRED.
Struggling with this exercise? That is normal. It often takes us some time in coaching sessions to work through the baggage you’ve been carrying all these years around this flaw!! Be patient. Be kind. Be gentle. You can always book a call with me to discuss how we work on this in my Brave YES Coaching sessions!
