Welcome to Braving YES, a Newsletter & Community that gives you permission to say YES to what’s calling you!

Hello. I’m Shawn and I’ve been Braving YES for years …

From leaving my 9 to 5 to launch a coaching and online creator business full-time to leading webinars for hundreds of people online to self-publishing a book to launching online courses and a vibrant membership community.

I’ve been taking risks — creatively, physically and emotionally — and inspiring others to do the same.

Over the years, I’ve witnessed my clients …

  • Start businesses

  • Quit jobs

  • Raise prices

  • Step on stage as speakers

  • Become an Artist

  • Write books

  • Launch online programs

  • Pivot their career for more balance and ease

  • Say yes to rest

  • Step into their power and leadership

  • And so much more

Braving YES is a newsletter for ambitious creatives, visionaries and thought leaders who struggle between changing the world, making money, reading books and taking a nap.

Life is short.

There’s more work to do than ever.

And, there’s so much we WANT to do.

I know you because I am you.

The truth is I’m writing a book about the Brave YES Mindset and I want you to help me by being a member of this community.

Hello, I’m Shawn and I am ABSOLUTELY thrilled YOU are here. I’m writing my next book and I plan to show up here weekly honestly, vulnerably and creatively to inspire you with ways to be braver and more courageous in chasing your dreams and desires — while also making time for that nap or anything else that matters most to you.

Braving YES is a refreshing source of practical insights, tips and ideas rooted in mindfulness, positive psychology, brave leadership and creative strategy to help you live out your best life, make the biggest impact possible and leave behind a legacy you are proud of.

About Shawn (she/her)

I’ve been courage coaching for 12+ years full-time. When I’m not on Zoom in private coaching sessions, I am often speaking or facilitating to groups around Brave Leadership and Wellbeing.

Being a private coach is the highest form of service. I love that my clients invite me into their hearts, their minds, their fears, and their creative passions and businesses.

I’m just here to encourage you along in believing your ideas are valid and needed in this world.

My actual work is spending my days on Zoom serving as a creative business strategist and coach for small business owners and consultants or facilitating keynote speaking or workshops for senior leadership teams and groups.

My writing and work infuses a mix of Dare to Lead™ concepts, courage coaching, fierce business strategy, feminine leadership, positive psychology, JEDI (justice, equity, diversity & inclusion), mindfulness and wellbeing practices.

12 THINGS ABOUT SHAWN (she/her)

  1. My first career and best education was 10 years as a journalist.

  2. My second career was as a freelance writer for national magazines AND being a full-time mom.

  3. I’ve had a couple other careers along the way but my heart exploded and expanded when I became a blogger and online writer/creator in 2012.

  4. I get called Mr. Shawn a lot and it is super annoying. Pronouns rock.

  5. I am a spiritual being thriving in the human experience.

  6. I am a mom of twin young adult daughters. I’ll be going from having two kids at home to an empty nester very soon.

  7. I am an early riser — up by 5 a.m. most days and writing by 5:30 (with coffee in hand, of course.)

  8. The world is so beautiful and so brutal I can’t stand it most days.

  9. Speaking on stage brings me alive — especially when the audience is engaged and open-minded.

  10. I led an 8-year long membership community of women around the world and it was the most amazing community. I’ve never been able to find such a community since. It saved me.

  11. I like to reinvent myself every 7 years or so. Identity isn’t fixed. We can change. Change is good.

  12. My home office is also my sanctuary, where I write, do yoga and meditate and hide out when my highly sensitive, empathic self needs solitude.

  13. BONUS: My top issue as an activist and white cis woman is justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) and my coaching work is centered around all of this.
